FAQ:
- I'm a PCD vendor. To demonstrate my product I have to use the Golden Reader Tool. Is that possible?
Yes, it is. It will be annotated within the registration process. The product will be fully integrated in the interop testing procedure.
- Will the Golden Reader Tool be the one and only software used while testing?
No, definitely not! Please provide your own reader software, border control software etc. pp. if possible. The more different software packages the better.
- We assume that the "conformity test" is for the ePassport document samples (and not for the readers). Could you please confirm this?
Confirmed. Conformity Assessment is for PICCs although we plan a test case which simulates different reader properties.
- What will the EAC workshop consist of? Can reader vendors test their solutions against ePassport samples with EAC in that workshop?
During the event you will be able (bilaterally) to test your EAC samples. All relevant experts are there to discuss issues around EAC. But, EAC will - for obvious reasons - not be part of the official cross over test.
- Will there be PDK LDAP server available for testing before the event?
No. We will distribute the certs manually and via download from WLAN.
- In the on-line registration form there is no specification on how many readers companies can bring. Is this detail going to be covered on the registration done on May 29?
Yes, but we are in the process of enhancing the registration sheet to cover this. You can bring as many readers as you like. X-Over testing will be mainly by reader devices, not by vendor.
- What timing information will this solution need to display? Specific times it took to read DG1, DG2, EFCOM, EFSOD? Or just the total time?
Total time at least. If you display specific timings, even better. There will be a detailed description of the test procedure on the web.
- How many times should the document be read to provide a good average on the time measurements?
It is planned to measure 3 times, after a short warm-up with the individual set-up.
- What are the steps to be performed during the cross-over tests?
There will be a description downloadable soon explaining this.
- After the cross-over testing are done, can each company decide about the publication of the results? If a company has more than one reader (for example prototypes), can it decide the publication of the results for each individual reader?
Results from REGISTERED readers will be published. If you bring a prototype where you do not want results to be published from, do not register this device. The official testers will decide whether time permits to read the samples on those readers or not. We would encourage you to register all readers, but you must register at least one reader in order to participate.
- Will access to the test ePassports be provided outside of the formal testing periods?
Yes, I think we can do this or you arrange bilaterally with passport vendors.
- How is "5 identical passports" defined?
See Technical Outline in "Downloads" section, chapter 4.1.1 !
